Medical Media Arts Lab

Medical Media Arts Lab is a collaborative, participatory design lab where we bring together hands-on critical thinking and design. The lab is made up of faculty and clinicians from Rice, UT Health, Baylor College of Medicine, and other partner organizations in the Texas Medical Center and in the Houston arts community. Together, we tackle real-world problems with physicians & patients in the Texas Medical Center who want help visualizing information for health communication. Using human-centered design, digital health research, media theory, and readings on the social determinants of health, we design novel solutions of real world clinical problems. Our work was written up in a two-part series on the AAMC's Wing of Zock website in 2014.
